Getting Advertising Clients & Ad Space Sales

Advertising is certainly an industry with its own particular
guidelines and lingo. You may need to educate yourself to
sell ad space successfully. E-publishing requires other
creative sets of skills that successful e-zine publishers
really need to acquire and develop.

In order to begin and expand a client base of repeat clients,
you will need to do a few things.

FIRST....you will research and accumulate a Competitive I.Q.
Level - NOT Spying!

1. Look at your competitors and identify who advertises in
THEIR publications. Take note of names.

2. Examine ad prices for your competitors' publications.
You can use the Directory of Ezines for a simple and quick
way to get this information. Check the below site:

3. You might try to determine how much money each of your
potential advertisers MIGHT already BE spending on
advertising IN competitor publications. LOOK for solo size
ads.

4. Next --- You'll Create Your OWN Sales Budget

Selling advertising and developing solid biz relationships
with your advertisers can be a VERY time consuming project.
Your sales goals should reflect this information.

How much "action" TIME will you dedicate to support your
advertising services? It takes time to develop consistent
sales.

You should consider the following time suckers when
determining your sale worth:

1. Getting incoming ad sales.

2. Processing client financial transactions.

3. Follow-up is taking MORE time sending extra information,
than acknowledgment of the ads and the receipt of the
client paying for the ads.

4. Ad preparation and insertions take a considerable amount
of time.

5. Ad tracking --> this also takes TIME!

Time....e-sales takes a lot of time. However IF you have no
money to spend, time is the way you pay your dues!
