Alcohol and E-Business Don't Mix! Copyright © Marion Stearns - All Rights Reserved
====================
In the offline world, a cocktail party is never a "really" a party. They are business gatherings. Few understand the
actual difference.
Companies are now starting to ban alcohol at company functions, for very good reasons. In e-sales, we must
understand the "party" mentality, even though we work at home. It's convenient to just grab a beer while sitting at home but we're working, aren't we?
In Business settings with clients or at in-company functions, we are working real meetings. We are expected to be on the
ball, functioning properly and in control. If you're smart, you'll always BE, at the top of your game.
Since loose lips can and do sink ships. "Never" email or call business contacts, if you have been in a celebration
mood, with alcohol. You're really on call, around the clock. Keep in mind that a skill deficiency can have consequences
in your business affairs. People do notice business professionalism and mistakes. Manners and protocol always count. It's far better that you fall short on the side of
being invisible, than to be the life of the e-party. Being the latter could result in the former becoming a permanent and invisible condition.
Skip the alcohol when conducting online business. What we do here is real work, just like every J-O-B that you have ever
had in your life. Since we do not meet face-to-face, it's imperative that you never place your contacts in a position
of thinking, that you work under the influence of alcohol. Celebrate when you're not working.
